Altman is holding back information, the Board states as their reason to oust him. Significant enough to affect decisions made by Board. What has he been holding back and why?
ReplyDeleteOne aspect behind Altman’s opaque behavior is his own self-image as a god. He is drunk on his own celebrity, being revered by groups self-defined as championing ethics, like the wealthy, educated members of white-dominated Buddhist groups. One live interview featured Altman sanctimoniously feigning humility as the crowd applauded his largesse and morality. It was like watching the Prince being crowned Buddha. It made me cringe with echoes of Edward Said’s description of this cliche sentiment in 1977 in his famous essay ‘Orientalism.’
He seemingly considers himself enlightened and is entitled to make decisions for the rest of the world, feeding us or holding back from us information he curates for our own good. Don't eat the apples from the Tree of Knowledge. In the 613 commandments God handed down to Moses, God says it's ok to lie if it's for the good of those being lied to. Who is he to decide what is good for anybody? It's called hubris.
What has he been holding back from the Board and the rest of the world? This is, by the Board’s own words, the reason he was ousted.
